Executive Director of USLBA

Christine (Chrissy) Bishai is the Executive Director of the U.S.-Libya Business Association (USLBA), a nonprofit trade association. A former U.S. official, she has extensive public and private sector experience in geopolitics, diplomacy, national security, and investment facilitation, particularly across the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. Chrissy led the Middle East and North Africa office in the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Energy Resources, where she collaborated closely with energy companies, foreign governments, NGOs, and international financial institutions. She advised them on geopolitical risk and market dynamics to advance strategic energy and technology investment in those regions. Before that, she specialized in North African countries, including Libya, in State’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs. Prior to joining State, she served in the U.S. Treasury Department, specializing in sanctions and combatting terrorist financing and money laundering.

Chrissy earned a Master in Public Administration (MPA) degree from Harvard University’s Kennedy School, a Juris Doctorate (JD) from Northwestern University School of Law, and dual Bachelors of Arts (BA) degrees with Honors in International Affairs and Middle Eastern Studies from The George Washington University. She is fluent in Arabic and English, with conversational Spanish and Hindi/Urdu language skills. She teaches Master’s degree candidates at American University’s School of International Service in Washington DC.
