Washington, D.C. – Today, the U.S.-Libya Business Association (USLBA) welcomed the announcement of President Obama’s intention to nominate Ambassador Peter William Bodde, current U.S. Ambassador to Nepal, as Ambassador to Libya.
“We welcome the President’s intention to nominate Ambassador Bodde as U.S. Ambassador to Libya, and we thank Ambassador Deborah Jones for her tireless efforts and unwavering support for the Libyan people during her time of service,” said Chuck Dittrich, Executive Director of USLBA. “Not only does this announcement mark the continued commitment of the United States to supporting Libya throughout its democratic transition, but Ambassador Bodde’s broad experience around the globe will bring unique insights and a fresh perspective on political reconciliation, rebuilding societies torn by conflict and managing reconstruction.”
USLBA and its members have long supported the strengthening of U.S.-Libya diplomatic and commercial relations in order to support the growing Libyan economy and the development of the Libyan people.
“USLBA looks forward to working with Ambassador Bodde to realize the long-term commitment of our member companies to the Libyan people in their efforts to rebuild the Libyan economy, and create jobs and a sustainable future for Libya’s youth,” said Dittrich.
